Our Introduction to Lean Manufacturing course presents methods for streamlining operations in any manufacturing environment. Production and Inventory

Module one provides an introduction to the lean philosophy which involves measuring all activity from the customer’s point of view. We will cover cost and profit and how that relates to your business production and inventory through the use of standard cost accounting. We will discuss how to target the correct metrics and determine the differences between value-added and non-value added production.

Lean Manufacturing Module 2 Chapters 10 – 13
Quantifying the Work

Module two introduces you to value stream mapping which is a method for analyzing the current state and designing future states for the customer from beginning to end. The inner workings of process mapping and collecting data will be covered. Work sampling, which determines the proportion of time for a task, will also be discussed.

Lean Manufacturing Module 3 Chapters 14 – 16
Developing a Flow Layout

In this module, you will learn how important designing and implementing a proper flow layout is to the development of your project and business. You will be introduced to current processes, ways to measure effectiveness and the future state of progress. The principles of pull vs. push in manufacturing as it relates to customers will be discussed, as well as tracking demand flow.

Lean Manufacturing Module 4 Chapters 17 – 20
Seeking Balance

Our last module for this course discusses Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), which seeks to engage all levels and functions in an organization to ensure total effectiveness of production equipment. We will also cover proper ways to streamline day to day operations, as well as basic principles of Takt logic in relation to your business.
