This course will prepare you take the GED (General Education Development) test.  The GED test is broken into five-test sections.  The sections included in this course are Language Arts, Writing, Language Arts, Reading, Social Studies, Science, and Math.  This online course provides many resources from test-taking tips and strategies, exercises, assignments, and practice test with explanation of answers.  The testing format will be explained and broken down to highlight the current testing areas along with the content each of the sections will cover.

Getting Started with the GED Test

This week we will be reviewing the basic sections included in the GED test.  We will explore how to work around the system so that you are familiar with the testing format.  In module one, we will look at how to complete practice exams and how to better understand the answers and explanations for each question.

GED Test Preparation Module 2
Getting Ready for the Language Arts Test

After learning more about the test format, we will dive into the Language Arts section of the test. This covers your ability to apply skills in reading comprehension, how to use grammar and language to correct errors in writing and how to use writing skills to create logical and effective extended essays.

GED Test Preparation Module 3
Encountering the Social Studies and Science Test

In module three, we discuss aspects of the social studies and science tests. The social studies test will assess skills in understanding and interpreting concepts in civics, history, geography, and economics. The science test covers material from life science, physical science, earth, and space science.

GED Test Preparation Module 4
The Mathematics Test

In module four, we will examine preparation strategies for understanding the math test better.  We will look at number operations and number sense, as well as geometry, statistics and algebraic functions.  After practicing for your math exam, our course will provide you with skills to be more successful, overall, on your GED test, as well as what to do upon passing.

  • Internet Browsers - Google Chrome is highly recommended
    • Cookies MUST be enabled
    • Pop-ups MUST be allowed (Pop-up Blocker disabled)
  • The Kindle Reader App or VitalSource Bookshelf App are needed for many of our courses (No special equipment needed. This can be downloaded for FREE onto your computer.)
  • PowerPoint Viewer (if you do not have PowerPoint)
